I lost my little dog, best friend and constant companion, Wink to a terrible accident in 2011. The loss was unbearable.
I dealt with my grief by making portraits of Wink. I did a month long residency with p:ear (www.pearmentor.org) in 2012 teaching duct tape art to at risk and homeless youth. I worked alongside the kids, using the Wink portraits as my teaching aides. I had a show of these portraits with the duct tape artworks of my students at the P:ear/Vodjani Gallery after the residency. It was a truly amazing, healing and cathartic experience for me.
In the following years, I have received many requests for portraits of folk's furry, four legged friends. I get great satisfaction doing these portraits as I know how deep the love between man and beast can run.
I am happy to answer any and all questions to the best of my ability and in a speedy manner. Custom sizes are available. Email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Original custom portraits are created by layering and meticulously hand-carving duct tapes and masking tapes.
While it is possible for a two to three week turnaround, expect your portrait to be ready anywhere from one to two months and plan accordingly. I will discuss my production schedule with you during the ordering process. An extra fee may be applied for rush jobs
A high gloss sealant is carefully applied to each beautifully rendered custom portrait to protect against harmful UV rays and moisture.
I will need good quality, very sharp photos. I prefer good detail and natural lighting in the photo.
I will include a plain notecard with a message if shipping directly to third party.
